Chick-fil-A VP of Public Relations Dies of a Heart Attack
Don Perry, the Vice President of Public Relations at Chick-fil-A, died of an unexpected heart attack this morning. He had been with the company for almost 29 years.
Of course, liberals did not literally kill him, but one has to wonder if Perry’s death was related to the raging controversy surrounding Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy’s stance against gay marriage.
Amidst serious backlash, Cathy has defended his Christian beliefs stating that the organization operates on Biblical principles. He says he is “guilty as charged” for choosing to support “the biblical definition of the family unit.”
Chick-fil-A released the following statement:
“We are saddened to report the news to you that our dear friend Don Perry, vice president of public relations, passed away suddenly this morning.
Don was a member of our Chick-fil-A family for nearly 29 years. For many of you in the media, he was the spokesperson for Chick-fil-A. He was a well-respected and well-liked media executive in the Atlanta and University of Georgia communities, and we will all miss him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Was Perry’s untimely death just a coincidence, or could the stress of the controversy have been too much for him?
We’ll never know, but our deepest sympathies go out to Don Perry’s family. May he rest in peace.
And I, for one, commend Dan Cathy for standing up for his beliefs. It’s rare to see someone stand firmly upon God’s word when the culture is so vehemently opposed to Christian principles.
