You’d be hard pressed to find someone in this country that hasn’t heard of Joel Osteen.  Osteen is the pastor of the 16,000-seat Lakewood Church located right here in Houston, TX.

In addition to the nearly 40,000 people who attend services at Lakewood each week, through his television ministry, his message reaches upwards of 7 million people around the globe.

Osteen is the always smiling, feel good preacher, who teaches only positive motivational messages.

You never hear him speak of God’s wrath, the consequences of sin, or any other negative topic that’s mentioned in the Bible.

Millions of people are eating up his messages, in which he claims that we have the power to effect our own happiness and material prosperity.

The problem is that Joel Osteen’s teachings are not Biblical, but are actually rooted in the occult.  Tragically, more and more people each day are falling into the trap of his false teachings.

This is a very touchy subject to many people, especially those here in Houston who love Osteen, but it’s something that needs to be taken very seriously.

I was personally called every name in the book and cussed up and down by a member of his congregation when I broached the subject.

The Bible warns us of false teachers like him, but many people bury their heads in the sand instead of examining the evidence that he is leading people down a dangerous path.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.” (Matthew 7:12)

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

    Sorry but I have to say I think these anti-Joel Osteen people are way off base. I have never heard Joel Osteen say anything contrary to Gods word. He may not focus on repentance and consequences of sin, but he definitely focuses on Gods Love, Mercy and goodness toward His children. What is wrong with that, NOTHING. To many of us beat ourselves up over our sin instead of learning to live in Gods grace and forgiveness. We will glorify God much more if we truly receive his blessings, power, forgiveness, grace and mercy. I think Gods kindness leads us to repentance. That is biblical, in other words. We we realize how much he has given us and the power that we have in surrender to him it will cause us to want to turn away from sin. I think preaching about sin and repentance is a good thing too, but just because he doesn’t focus on that doesn’t mean he is not teaching biblically. Mathew Zachariah, I think he was just using an illustration that Gods children are entitled to all of His kingdom blessings. A 12 yr old boy is a growing boy. I see no problem with him eating a 140z. steak!! That is nothing to do with carnal desire, that is ridiculous.

    THE WHOLE IDEA IS BEING APPOINTED BY GOD. TOO MANY CHRISTIANS ARE TAKEN IT UPON THEMSELVES TO LEARN THE WORD AND STUDY THEOLOGY AND HAVE NO SPIRIT OF GOD. TO RUN A BUSINESS AND TO KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG IS MANIPULATING GOD’S PEOPLE. IT’S BEEN GOING ON TOO LONG. ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS ASK GOD FOR HIS SPIRIT AND TO REVEAL THE WORD TO HIM TO HELP HIS PEOPLE. I BELIEVE GOD COULD GO ALONG WITH THAT BEFORE HIM PRETENDING TO GET WEALTHY KNOWINGLY USING POOR PEOPLE.
