standard A Real Life Biological Zombie Apocalypse?

Recent Incidences of Cannibalism & A Zombie Apocalypse

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve always thought the idea of a zombie apocalypse was downright absurd.  Until about a week ago when multiple news stories started popping up about people eating other people.

There does seem to be quite a string of cannibalism happening, and frankly it’s very disturbing.

I guess this isn’t entirely new though, because in July, a homeless woman named Natasha Hubbard in Los Angeles tried to snatch a baby out of his stroller. Her intent was to break off his arm so she could eat it.

Woman Snatches Baby From Stroller to Eat His Arm:

Then late last month, 65-year old Ronald Poppo of Miami had half his face eaten off by Rudy Eugene, who they claim was under the influence of ‘bath salts’, a potent new form of LSD.

Eugene was shot and killed by police. His mother claims he’s not a zombie, although he had a history of unstable behavior. She also doesn’t think he should have been shot.

I bet Mr. Poppo, as well as anyone with a shred of common sense, would disagree.

Face-Eating Cannibal & Victim Identified:

Alexander Kinyua

If you want to see VERY graphic photos of Poppo’s face, you can find those here.

Just days after the Miami incident, news broke about Alexander Kinyua, a student from Maryland who ate his roommate’s heart and part of his brain.

Apparently, the victim, Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, was a long-time family friend, which goes to show that just because you’ve known someone for a long time doesn’t mean you can trust them.

And what about Wayne Carter, the guy in New Jersey, that repeatedly stabbed himself with a 12″ knife, and then started throwing his intestines at the police?

There’s something really crazy going on here.  Could it really be the advent of a zombie apocalypse of sorts?

Is There a Parasite that Causes Zombie-Like Behavior?

Apparently, there is.

In 2008, Discover Magazine released a piece about Toxoplama gondii, a single-cell parasite that alters the brains of animals.

You can find the piece, entitled “Zombie Animals and the Parasites that Control Them“, on the Discover Magazine website.

According to information in The Daily Caller, when this parasite is found inside humans, it “is linked to causing significant changes in behavior, including neuroticism, increased aggression and schizophrenia.”

The CDC admits that this parasite exists, and in a 2003 article in their publication entitled “Emerging Infections Diseases” states:

[Animal] studies of Toxoplasma infections have demonstrated that this organism affects levels of dopamine, norepinephrine, and other neurotransmitters, which are well known to be affected in persons with schizophrenia.”

Despite this, the CDC is denying the existence of any organism that could cause zombie-like behavior.

Hmm….lying much?

So is it possible that these recent outbreaks of crazy, cannibalistic behavior are signs of a forthcoming “zombie apocalypse” that may be the result of a biological organism that affects the brain?

I guess time will tell.

Be careful out there….and try to avoid playing stupid zombie pranks like this one unless you want to get yourself killed.
